Engineering and Project Management

EnerMech recognizes that to consistently maintain the highest standard of project delivery to our customers we need to have the correct personnel and tools in place.

Project Management

EnerMech has developed a Project Management Manual to ensure all projects can maximise their potential for success by helping address each element of the project, at the earliest opportunity. This ensures the right level of detail is provided and resourced appropriately based on the complexity of the task. The Project Management Manual details the role of the Project Manager and gives specific guidance and detail on the level of control required for the duration of the project, and the management of change process.

We also have a blended and bespoke degree level project management course which many of our project managers undertake over a 12 month period with Robert Gordon University.

The Project Management Manual covers all critical areas to ensure that we are aligned with our customers’ goals and requirements.

  • Safety
  • Quality assurance & control
  • Aligned objectives & outcomes
  • Contract review
  • Risk Management
  • Planning & control
  • Management of Change
  • Commercial Management
  • Performance measurement

Whatever your requirements, whether you wish to outsource the management of an engineering project or require additional project management expertise to top up your resources internally, we offer a flexible service and can provide project managers to assist.

Engineering

EnerMech has a large mechanical engineering capability across its business with many specialist engineers available to support adhoc requirements and provide effective solutions to our customers’ needs.

The competence and experience of our blended mix of process and pipeline engineers is measured regularly to ensure we deliver to customer requirements. By developing individual development plans through our internal graduate and development programmes, we look to provide continuous development for our engineers.

We also provide several key technologies that have been proven to deliver on both added value and flow through ‘end to end’ control, giving our customer project or operations group useful and effective tools.

Integrated process services

High Voltage Operations and Maintenance

EnerMech's philosophy of end-to end solutions for its customers means that the supply of High Voltage Operations, Maintenance and the provision of Permit to Work systems is a fundamental part of our business. We aim to provide a complete construction and commissioning service to our clients, which allows us to leverage the natural synergy that exists.

This approach provides many benefits, not least cost, quality and timeline risk mitigation, but also safety and environment.

  • Cost risk mitigation – as the single service provider we reduce cost and eliminate possible variations that can occur due to one contractor delaying another
  • Quality risk mitigation – the scope boundary interface between installation and commissioning is removed, thus eliminating possible "holes" between the two scopes
  • Timeline risk mitigation - the site program is streamlined and teamwork is increased due to our inter-discipline cooperation
  • Safety and environment risk management - the site works are coordinated with a uniform approach to safety and environmental management, ensuring clear understanding of the site hazards and environmental requirements by all workers.

Our electricians are experienced in all forms of HV and EHV installation works and have a proven track record of substation construction and satisfied customers. We provide "Brownfield" and "Greenfield" services to utilities, generators and industrials with a focus on the safety, quality and environmental aspect of each project.

We can tailor a service to suit the scale and budget of your project and are equipped with the necessary equipment and qualifications to perform the installation and wiring of all equipment.

Fibre Optic Testing

Our team of skilled engineers carry out Fibre Optic Testing of both single mode and multi-mode variants of fibres. With demand for fibre optics increasing for several applications across the global energy market, our testing capabilities allow for continued connectivity, ensuring the best possible safety and productivity in the harshest of environments.

Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) testing is performed to prove the fibre optic tubes can transmit required levels of light without significant loss in accordance with specifications laid down in BS-EN-50173. An OTDR injects a series of optical pulses into the fibre that is being tested. The OTDR measures the time and intensity of the light reflected and displays a final trace of the attenuation over distance.
