EnerMech has been awarded a turnkey shutdown project by Perenco for its A1 plant at the Bacton gas facility in Norfolk.

Mechanical engineering specialist EnerMech will play a lead role in the entire shutdown and isolation of the plant as it is removed from service for integrity inspections and additional upgrade work.

EnerMech will assist Perenco staff to isolate and drain the plant before it is handed over for nitrogen purging and the cleaning of all vessels and pipe work to allow safe entry by inspectors.
On satisfactory completion of the work scope, all vessels and pipe work will be returned to Perenco, fully re-assembled and nitrogen leak tested and processing equipment will be dried with nitrogen on reinstatement.
EnerMech will also provide all associated consumables, scaffolding, painting, grit blasting and lagging requirements on project, which is expected to last up to three months and will be managed from EnerMech's Great Yarmouth base.
Thomas Smith, EnerMech business development manager, said: "We have previously provided training services for Perenco but this is the first process and pipeline workscope we have been awarded.

"The award strengthens our growing reputation in the UK and southern North Sea as a leading provider of pre-commissioning and pipeline integrity services and it gives us a base to develop our other business lines throughout the area."

The Perenco contract is the latest of a number of awards secured by EnerMech following the recent £20 million investment in launching a new Process, Pipelines and Umbilicals division.

EnerMech has been commissioned by Bumi Armada to provide leak testing services on the Armada TGT 1 FPSO which is undergoing conversion at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore.

The mechanical services group will carry out gross air leak testing, nitrogen helium leak test and leak repair services onboard the TGT 1, which is the newest addition to Bumi Armada’s FPSO fleet.

The FPSO will be deployed in the Te Giac Trang (or White Rhinoceros) oil field in Vietnam’s Cuu Long Basin and is expected to strike first oil in Q3, 2011.

EnerMech recently invested £20 million (US$ 33 million) on a new Process, Pipeline & Umbilicals division and the company and will utilise its extensive PPU fleet, including nitrogen converters and tanks, a nitrogen helium leak testing spread and bolt torquing spread to complete the project.

Mechanical engineering group, EnerMech, is on a major recruitment drive as it forecasts its workforce will grow by one-third from 750 to 1000 by the end of 2011.

The Aberdeen-based oil services company currently has 80 vacancies but is hoping to attract ex-military personnel and plans to open two new bases in England to boost staffing levels.

With the impending closure of RAF Kinloss and RAF Lossiemouth’s future under threat, the company believes former armed forces staff will have an excellent blend of the required engineering and hydraulic skills.

Mechanical engineering specialist, EnerMech, has been awarded a number of contracts “worth a substantial sum” to provide pipeline pre-commissioning services on behalf of Subsea 7.

Two awards are for Dutch sector projects where the workscope includes pre-trench flooding, cleaning and gauge pigging, high speed flushing, hydrostatic strength testing and post tie-in final gauging and hydrostatic leak testing in pipeline systems.

In another Dutch sector award, Subsea 7 has contracted EnerMech to perform pre-commissioning operations comprising pig loading, pig trials, pipeline flooding, cleaning and gauging, pipeline strength testing, Xmas tree isolation barrier testing, flexible riser annulus vacuum testing, pipeline system leak ‘tightness’ testing and pipeline bulk dewatering.
EnerMech recently invested £20 million in establishing a new Process, Pipeline and Umbilical Services division (PPU) which is targeting the global pre-commissioning market.

EnerMech PPU director, Les Graves, said: “These awards mark EnerMech’s first major European pipeline project success and our pro-active approach and strategy of providing excellent personnel and equipment is already paying off.

“Securing these awards demonstrates that the market is receptive to a service provider which is committed to safe, cost effective and innovative solutions. I am confident this will be the first of many awards.”

Mechanical engineering group, EnerMech Ltd, has won its largest contract to date, securing a £20 million deal with Wood Group PSN.

Twelve new jobs will be created by the Aberdeen company to service the five year contract which is for the supply and rental of plant and equipment, including generators, air compressors and lifting and rigging equipment.

The contract also covers the supply of hand tools and consumables and the repair, service, maintenance and storage of Wood Group PSN owned equipment.

EnerMech has invested £1.5 million on new air compressors, generators and tools and spent a further £400,000 on a new workshop at their Aberdeen headquarters to service the contract.

Doug Duguid, managing director of EnerMech, said his company’s commitment to investing significant capital in new equipment and site facilities was a major driver in securing the contract.

Mr Duguid said: “Our policy of continual investment in new equipment, technologies and in the latest interactive web-based systems which give clients 24-7 visibility of their assets, gives us a clear advantage over competitors.

“We have completed some ad-hoc work on behalf of Wood Group in the past but this deal signals what I hope will be the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship, which should offer up further opportunities for both companies.

“Winning this award is a clear indication that Wood Group PSN trusts us to provide a high quality service, delivered by first class personnel and backed up with our extensive on-site facilities which are second to none in the north east of Scotland.”

The Wood Group PSN success follows other major deals announced recently by EnerMech, including an £8.2 million crane operation and maintenance contract with BP Exploration in Azerbaijan, a £7.5 million contract from Cape Industrial Services to provide plant and equipment support in the Dutch North Sea and £1 million plus deals with Acergy/Subsea 7 and Petrofac.

Mechanical engineering company EnerMech has been awarded a £300,000 contract for hose integrity management by CAN.

The contract covers hose inspection and replacement on 12 UKCS onshore and offshore assets and was won in a competitive tender.

EnerMech will provide CAN with complete visibility of the condition of all flexible hose assemblies (FHA) and through a risk-based inspection process will develop a rolling inspection and replacement programme based on safety critical elements.

An unique online web-based system, EnerMech Live, will provide a live and real-time snapshot of the status for all FHA’s on CAN’s assets.

Gary McRobb, EnerMech’s UK manager for hydraulic products, said: “The smart technology we utilise ensures the inspections are focussed and effective and this was a key differentiator between us and competing bids.

“Our EnerMech Live system provides the client with a clear understanding of why it may be necessary to replace an FHA, while the market is used to receiving only an inspect and supply regime, without this level of integrity management.”

EnerMech will also apply RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) which allows the client to identify key specifications and historical data of the FHA in the event that the conventional tag is removed.

Mr McRobb added: “The award of this contract highlights EnerMech’s level of commitment and the continual investment we make in people, systems and technologies to promote a best-in-class culture.”

EnerMech has been awarded a contract to provide Petrofac Offshore Engineering & Operations with power tools, plant and equipment and lifting gear services.

The three year contract, with two one-year options, is estimated to be worth £1 million. EnerMech is already a provider on a Petrofac managed asset but the new contract extends the provision to cover all of Petrofac's North Sea requirements.

Mechanical services specialist EnerMech will invest around £500,000 in new equipment and tools to service the contract. A key factor in securing the deal was EnerMech’s recent investment in IT systems, its strong health and safety record and proven ability to service major contracts.

EnerMech operations director, Phil Bentley, said: “We secured this important contract in a competitive tender against a number of providers and won against stiff competition.

"We have invested a significant sum in cutting edge IT systems, including our EnerMech LIVE system, which offers clients 24 hour online access to safety certification and equipment management.

"We are looking forward to strengthening the existing relationship we have with Petrofac and we are confident our philosophy of continual investment in the latest systems and equipment will lead to further contract wins."

EnerMech has secured its first contract in Turkmenistan and will provide nitrogen helium leak testing services for MMHE Technip JV.

The Aberdeen-based engineering services group will carry out the work at the Onshore Gas Terminal in Kiyanly, with the contract said to be worth an estimated £900,000.

EnerMech will use its global reach to service the contract with equipment mobilised from UAE, personnel supplied from the UK and manage the project from the company’s Caspian headquarters in Azerbaijan.

Jason Grimley, EnerMech’s business development manager for the Middle East & Caspian, said: "It is our first contract in Turkmenistan but we hope the first of many. We are in the process of setting up an office and workshops in-country which demonstrates our long-term commitment to Turkmenistan.

"We don’t believe in shipping in equipment and people to projects on a piecemeal basis but prefer to establish a strong local presence in each region we are working in. Our Turkmenistan base should be completed in Q2/2011 and we will use the MMHE Technip contract as a blueprint for what we can do on behalf of other clients in the region."

EnerMech Qatar LLC has been awarded a multi-million pound three year call-off contract with Dolphin Energy Limited.

Mechanical engineering company EnerMech, which has bases across the eastern hemisphere, will provide nitrogen purging and leak testing on Dolphin Energy’s onshore and offshore facilities in Qatar.

Dolphin Energy supplies natural gas to a number of Middle East and international clients

The contract is EnerMech’s largest leak purging and testing workscope in the Middle East and follows a recent £20 million ($32 million) investment in a new Process, Pipeline & Umbilical (PPU) division.

EnerMech will supply nitrogen, helium trace vaporisers, hoses, tools and associated equipment and specialist personnel, which will be mobilised from Qatar, UAE, Singapore and the UK to service the contract.

Charlie Topp, EnerMech's regional director for the Middle East, said: "We have worked with Dolphin Energy in the past, providing training services, and we are delighted to be able extend this relationship.

"We have made a significant investment in PPU equipment and in recruiting the best personnel working in that sector, and we believe the Dolphin contract will pave the way for similar workscopes in the Middle East region.

"EnerMech is committed to developing a strong physical presence in the Middle East and in addition to building a new £3 million facility in Dubai we are also in the process of establishing a new base in Qatar which will enhance the services we currently offer to clients."

Mechanical engineering group EnerMech has been awarded a five year contract to provide a range of crane services for TOTAL E&P UK Limited.

The contract is worth an estimated £10 million and covers the Elgin, Franklin, Alwyn and Dunbar platforms in the North Sea and TOTAL’s onshore crane requirements at St Fergus.

The workscope covers the provision of crane operation, maintenance and engineering support services, the supply of rigging equipment lofts and lifting equipment inspection.

EnerMech will create 20 new jobs to service the contract, which has five one year options and is the first awarded to the Aberdeen-based company by TOTAL.

EnerMech managing director, Doug Duguid, said TOTAL’s decision to award the contract, after competitive tender, was another step forward in establishing his company’s credentials as a global provider of crane services, equipment and specialist personnel.

Mr Duguid said: “Historically other divisions in the EnerMech group have worked with TOTAL but this is the first major crane project to be awarded to us and we are looking to build a strong and lasting relationship with Total.

“We are in the process of investing millions in upgrading facilities at our Aberdeen base and on new equipment and that marks us out from our competitors who lack the financial resources at our disposal.

“This investment and the continuous development of our technical and engineering capacity is a major factor in securing the confidence and trust of major operators such as TOTAL who are looking for fresh thinking and innovative and cost effective solutions.

“Twenty new posts will be created as a result of this win and with other major contract awards in the pipeline we expect our workforce to grow to more than 800 within the next year.”
